DIAS/ For airports

Operated for your airport.

Offered to airports as a partnership: DIAS supplies, operates and maintains the trolleys and the service, and the airport shares in the media revenue.

The airport gets a better airside experience that also serves its commercial agenda. Passengers who can see their gate, and how far it is, can use their airside time with confidence, in the terminal's shops and restaurants as well as on the way to the gate.

Who in the airport is involved

Commercial
A passenger-carried media channel and the offers catalogue, with a share of the media revenue; promotions with the concession partners.
Operations
Rank locations after security and return points; collection, redistribution and maintenance by DIAS's on-site team.
IT
Flight information for gate and status, and the network the trolleys connect over, scoped with the airport's IT.
Passenger experience
The gate in view throughout, route guidance, and the terminal's shops, restaurants and services in the passenger's chosen language.

How the operation is shared

What DIAS does, what comes from the airport, what is agreed together.

DIAS does

  • Supplies the trolleys and the screen units
  • Runs the on-site operation: collection, redistribution, maintenance
  • Provides software support for the fleet
  • Manages content and campaigns, with approval workflows
  • Reports aggregated passenger behaviour insight to the airport

From the airport

  • Gate and status from its flight information system
  • Pickup and return points after security, chosen with its operations team
  • The approvals it keeps: media partner and concession partners

Agreed before go-live

  • A survey and calibration of each terminal; any supporting installation
  • Where the fleet is stored and powered
  • The network the trolleys connect over, with IT
  • How the screen is sold: with or through the advertising concession
  • Promotions and ordering with the concession partners
  • What is read from the boarding pass and how long session data is kept
  • Commercial terms

The service runs after security only, from the pickup rank to the gate. Positioning runs on the trolley, with each terminal surveyed and calibrated at deployment; the airport's flight information, media and concession arrangements stay as they are.

What the AI-TS trolley does for the passenger

What the airport learns

From movement and interaction to passenger behaviour insight.

Movement shows where passengers go and where they spend time after security, by zone and time of day. Interaction with the trolley screen adds a second signal: what passengers open on the screen, which directions they request, which offers and campaigns they respond to. Taken together across many passengers, these describe how the terminal is used.

That becomes commercial intelligence for the airport's planning, media and commercial teams: where to place media, when to time promotions, how a change in layout performed. It describes the passengers who chose the trolley and sits alongside the airport's wider flow analytics.

Reporting
Insight is reported in aggregate, segmented by zone, time and journey stage, as groups of passengers, not individuals.
Who receives what
The airport receives the behaviour insight; advertisers and retailers receive reporting on their own campaigns and outlets.
Boarding-pass data
The boarding-pass scan sets up the session's flight and gate; a session ends at log-out. What is read from the boarding pass and how long session data is kept are agreed with each airport.

Advertisers and retailers receive campaign and outlet reporting, in aggregate: advertising on the trolley.

Inputs, in aggregate

Questions airports ask

How is the partnership paid for?
DIAS supplies the trolleys and runs the service; it is funded mainly by advertising and promotions on the screen, and the airport shares in that media revenue. The split and the term are part of the commercial agreement.
Do we have to replace our trolleys?
The complete AI-TS trolley is the standard offer. Airports that already run a cabin-baggage fleet after security can ask about fitting the screen unit to their own trolleys instead.
What does our IT team need to provide?
Gate and status come from the airport's flight information system, and the trolleys connect over a network agreed with IT. Each terminal is surveyed and calibrated for indoor positioning before go-live.
What happens to our existing media concession?
The trolley screen is sold alongside or through the airport's media partner, under the content approvals the airport already applies.
Who looks after the fleet day to day?
DIAS's on-site team collects and redistributes the trolleys, maintains them and supports the software; pickup and return points are chosen with the airport's operations team.

Retrofit: an option for existing fleets

Already run an airside cabin-baggage trolley fleet?

Where the trolley type supports it, the same screen unit can be retrofitted to your existing trolleys: the same intelligence, media channel and reporting, with the screen units fitted and maintained by DIAS and the trolleys run by the airport's existing trolley operation.

Heritage

AI-TS builds on the technology of Intelligent Track Systems (ITS), whose trolleys have operated in live airports in Europe, the Middle East and India. Those deployments predate DIAS.
